Made to last forever
Life on earth is just but a small parenthesis in eternity. Life on earth is likened to a dress rehearsal before the real production. No wonder Abraham Lincoln said "surely God would not have created such a being as man to exist only for a day! No, no, man was made for immortality"
Eternity is the final destination of mankind. This life is only a phase of life that will pass away, but not the end of man, death is only a gateway to eternity. The Bible said in the book of 2cor 5:1 "when this tent we live in - i.e. Our body here on earth, is torn down, God will have a house in heaven for us to live in, a home He himself has made, which will last forever"
This indicates that while on earth, we have a greater and better place we are heading to, and that life here on earth is just a preparation for the next which is the home the Bible is referring to.
When you fully and finally comprehend that there is a far more to your life than just here and now, and you realise that life is just a preparation for eternity, you begin to live in the light of eternity. Death is not the end of man but a transition into eternity. We are made to last forever in eternity. Eccl 3:11 says "God has planted..... eternity in the human heart". God's plans involves far more than the few decades we will spend here on planet earth. It's beyond ones lifetime, we should realise that every moment we spend in these earthy bodies is a time spent away from our eternal home in eternity, though eternity provides just two options, which is either heaven with Jesus or hell with the devil. Let's endeavor to live each day of our lives as it were the last day of our life putting in mind that the consequences of every action and deeds of this life are determinant for the destiny of the next phase of live after death.
