A big QUESTION for everyone.
What drives your life?
Drive can simply be referred to
as a guide or a control over or of something. One’s life can be driven by
numerous things or factors. One may be driven by a problem, a pressure, a
circumstances etc.
There are five factors that
commonly drive a man’s life here on earth. They include the following
1. Many
people are driven by guilt of what they have done in the past. They allow their
past to control and direct their lives. They spend their entire lives running
from regrets and hiding their shame. Guilt driven people are manipulated in
their memories. (Psalm 32:1)
2. Many
people are driven by resentment and anger. Resentment always hurt the people it
controls. These people hold on hurts and never get over them. Instead of
releasing the pain through forgiveness, they release it over and over in their
minds, and at the long run, these resentments direct and control the way their
think, act and even speak. It then has great influence on their lives. (Job 5:2)
3. Many people are driven by fear. Fear can be seen as a self-imposed prison that keeps one from becoming God’s intent for one. It’s one of the instruments that the devil uses to distract people from discovering their purpose on earth, fear of the unknown. Their fear may be as a result of a traumatic experience or some kind of genetic predisposition. Fear driven people are always afraid to try a new thing, a new process, a new venture, instead they like play it safe avoiding risk and trying to maintain the status quo. (1 John 4: 18)
4. Some
people are driving by peer pressure. Imitation always leads to limitation. They
are always worried about what their friends will say about an action they are
taking, what the world will think about them forgetting that it’s supposed to
be what God will say. Unfortunately those who follow the crowd always get lost
in it.
5. The
last but not the least are those who are purpose driven. A purpose driven life
is a life guided, controlled, and directed by God’s purpose. Nothing matters
more than God’s purpose for your life. Without a purpose, life is a motion
without meaning, activity without directions and event without reason. Without a
purpose, life is a trivial, petty, and pointless.
